Discovery of Hidden Gem - Fleurieu Peninsula

It's Easter break! But so sad i have only one week off from uni. Always wanna walk around Adelaide so, lets be it! Very randomly my housemates and I went to Info Centre and came up with 1 day trip itinerary to Fleurieu Peninsula.

The day began at 8.30am when me and my housemates YeeWei and Regina left home to Access Rent-A-Car at Frome Road. When we got there, the guy told us there's no car there! Kinda pissed coz when i went there on Monday and asked if i can make any reservation, another guy told me just to come in and now, we're left with no car. My mood suddenly sunk, luckily YeeWei and Regina were with me so we kept trying other car rentals - Budget and Avis - which had no car for us too :(. then FINALLY at the 4th car rental - Europcar - we got one!! Was really glad coz by that time it's already 9.30am, which means we're half an hour behind the schedule.

Happy happy finally get a car~

First stop - Hallett Cove. I have been wanting to come here coz i love the rocks and yes, this place totally cheered me up from the hassle in the morning.

My current facebook profile picture :D
Love this picture - the sky, the rocks, the company

our car!! THE RED Hyundai Getz Auto 5 seater

2nd stop - Port Noarlungga. Just 15 minutes drive to south from Hallett Cove
Look at the crystal clear water!! u can really see through it and there u find a little continent of seaweed, and the five of us. Tranquil port and reflections of sunshine
3rd stop - McLaren Vale which is famous for wine production.

Maxwell Winery

Lunch at Woodstock Winery - overpriced foods but the atmosphere is really really nice! came home with bunch of good photos there
Didnt end up with wine-tasting though. none of us is fan and its not free too.
4th stop - Maslin Beach - the first official nudity beach in Australia
But we didnt walk 800m to get there as we decided to drive there. End up, we couldnt find where it is and thus found no nude people hanging around.

at Maslin Beach

Kinda disappointed but we're behind the schedule, so we decided to move on to next stop (5th stop) - Sellick Beach

We continued to move on south and supposedly to reach Aldinga Bay but we just managed to find the Aldinga town with the help of GPS. The road construction probably blocked our destination, and im sick of making U-turns so we decided just to skip it and keep moving on (its the same coastline anyway).

We found this nice desolated place while we're on our way to Normanville - 6th stop - Hobart

The view here is really breathtaking - i had a feeling i was back in New Zealand

7th stop - Rapid Bay. The sun is almost setting and i was getting worried as we need to rush to Starfish Hill for the sunset. Didnt stop for long here, and we were right.

Coz, the 8th stop - Starfish Hill, is the BEST PLACE OF THE DAY! its the best place for sunset view with all the romantic windmills, with the beautiful sky color =)

The first time in my life, being able to stand so close under the windmill, facing ocean, standing on a hill looking at sun sinking to the horizontal line between ocean and sky.
we're the only car there so we had the whole place just for ourselves
It's getting darker as we reached our 9th stop - Cape Jervis. The ferry terminal from Adelaide to Kangaroo Island. That's the southest point of Fleurieu Peninsula, and from here we made our way back to Adelaide city.
the lighthouse from the lookout
That's the ferry behind me - I thought it's some weird building =.=
(I really love the color of the sky~)

and... The journey has not ended yet! After we had our dinner at GingLing restaurant (cheap and nice foods!!), we moved on to the LAST STOP of the day (10th stop) - Windy Point lookout, for the nightview of Adelaide city. This place is much better for nightview compared to Mount Lofty (coz there're too many trees and u dont feel close to the city).

the lonely tree and the city lights
While on our way back home, i had a crazy idea - since i have a car, lets go for sunrise!! But then, Google didnt tell us anywhere that we can see sunrise in Adelaide, and Google mentioned Henley Beach. Since i've never been there, i decided to go there for sunrise. Need so much determination to wake up at 5.30am man! Then Audrey and Regina not coming, really thanks to YeeWei and Esther to accompany me there (i love you two muacks)~

I probably seen the best view of Henley Beach - the dawn sky color, pinkish purplish bluish, the sea, and the jetty
But still, THERE'S NO SUNRISE COZ THE SUN RISE FROM OUR BACK WHICH IS OBSCURED BY THE BUILDINGS
Sigh, suan le bah. I still haven't seen the first sunrise in my life yet. Thought can do it today but.. Stupid Adelaide is facing west.

Anyway, there's always next time!

And i LOVE driving, even though its tiring.

Thanks to Audrey Regina YeeWei Esther. Without you guys, this trip wont be this much fun!! :D
